The weekend before Christmas, Thomas, Ella and I drove down to Williamsburg, VA to meet the Furnivals and experience a traditional good old-fashioned Christmas. We toured the village , gnoshed on huge ginger cookies, and sang carols by firelight outside of the capitol steps. Does it get anymore Christmasy than that?
Ella and Mommy touring the Yankee candle store. Ella had so much fun looking at the miniature villages and train sets. The snow around the base of the village changed color every few minutes--of course she was super-excited about the pink snow!

Ella giving kisses to Baba Bevy. She was so excited to spend the day with her grandparents!
Ella and mommy playing a game of tag. Amazing how amusing a three-year-old can find running around the same tree for half an hour!

Alex, Nat and Baba Bevy posing in front of some traditional Christmas decorations. This display was made from apples, pinapples, and magnolia leaves. Beautiful!
Uncle Al back in the hotel room trying to fix Ella's hair. What a good uncle.

Dad and Alex in front of the Williamsburg armory. I think Alex's face pretty clearly shows how thrilled he was to have my dad wear that hat all day.
Back in Maryland, Ella helped me make Christmas cookies. She helped mix the dough, cut the cookies, and decorate the cut-outs. She was very adament about doing it herself, though I finally had to step in after she dumped an entire bottle of chocolate sprinkles on one cookie!
